There are dozens, possibly hundreds, of property companies trying to sell real estate in Phuket. Many of these buy a piece of land, have beautiful brochures made, full of gorgeous computer-generated images, but don’t lay a single brick until they have the first deposit in hand – a sales technique known as “off plan”.
Others build a small show house, possibly just a couple of rooms, to give buyers an idea of what their home may look like.
Naturally, there are risks in buying from such developers. Do they have the funds to complete the project? Will the final result be as gorgeous as the brochure?
